The University of Exeter is a Top 10 institution, ranked 9th out of 114 UK universities (The Times Good University Guide 2010). It has also been placed in the UK Top 10 for student satisfaction for the last four years, with the Business School performing particularly well and regularly being ranked Number 1 across key subject areas including Accounting, Finance and Management (National Student Survey 2005 - 2008).
Research is at the heart of everything we do and 90% of research was rated as being at internationally recognised levels in the 2008 RAE. The University of Exeter has a strong reputation across many subject areas in Science and Social Science. In the Times Good University Guide 2010, 24 subjects were ranked in the Top 15 in the UK, with particular strengths in Accounting, Finance and Sports Science (each ranked 2), Education and Drama (both ranked 4), Economics (ranked 6) Engineering (ranked 7) and Politics and Psychology (both ranked 9).
The university has three campuses, all situated in the south west of England. Two campuses are based in Exeter, a regional capital city based 2.5 hours from London by train. The main campus in Exeter is regarded by many as the most beautiful in the country with its lakes, parkland, woodland and gardens. (This campus also houses the INTO University of Exeter centre, where all our English language and academic prepatory programmes are offered.) A third campus is located near the waterside town of Falmouth and is emerging as a key centre for research in renewable energy, energy policy and the scientific and social aspects of climate change.
There are 14,500 students of which 10% are international, with representation from over 100 countries. The University of Exeter has strong links with the Middle East, including the world-famous Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies , and has a long and proud history of association with Iraq.
