At Newcastle, all of our student accommodation sites are situated within easy reach of the University campus and city centre. We offer a range of catered and self-catered accommodation. Some en-suite rooms are available, as are family and female-only accommodation. Private sector accommodation within walking distance of the campus is normally available and reasonably priced in the city.
The University Library is the only library in the UK to be awarded the Government's Charter Mark for excellent customer service five times in a row, in recognition of the high-quality learning environment available for students. The University Computing Service provides more than 1,400 PCs in 44 cluster rooms across the campus.
Our INTO Newcastle University centre offers a range of English language courses, including pre-sessional English courses and Foundation and Bridging courses. During term time the University also offers free language support in speaking, listening, grammar, vocabulary and writing. The superb Open Access Centre enables students to continue to improve their English in their own time.
Newcastle University is situated on a single-site campus and combines the best aspects of a strong campus identity with its location in the centre of a lively and historic city. The Students' Union lies at the heart of the campus, and supports over 100 student societies, the Student Advice Centre and the Job Shop, which helps students to find part-time work in the city.
The University is supportive of students from different cultures and backgrounds. There is, for example, a Mosque on campus, which is one of several in the city. The University also supports student societies, including an International Society and an Islamic Society. Halal food is available in supermarkets and restaurants throughout Newcastle. Arabic education is also available at Saudi Arabian and Libyan schools within the city.
Newcastle is one of the most exciting, friendly and cosmopolitan in the UK, and is fast becoming an internationally renowned centre of culture and science. Newcastle has an international airport, with direct flights available from Dubai, and is 3 hours by train from London. There is an extensive bus network and underground metro transport system with stations close to the University campus, making transportation around the city quick and easy.
The University has one of the best track records for graduate employment in the country, and the University is a key supplier of new recruits to many international companies.
